Hello everyone - we'll do a formal introduction in just a moment, but first let me thank you so much for coming today. I'd like to go over a few ground rules with you and with our candidates. You'll notice we're calling this a forum, not a debate. And in that spirit, we ask the candidates to give details about their plans, their strategies…speaking to their own positions and refraining from verbal attacks. We won't be running a buzzer or flashing red lights to time their answers - our format will be a bit looser than that…still, we do have time constraints - so we're asking candidates to keep their answers short and to the point. 90 seconds is ideal, but we're willing to take more time if we feel an issue needs to be fleshed out. So that's what we're asking from the candidates - and again, we want to thank them for being here. For you, our audience, just a few requests - turn off those cellphones and pagers, please - and please, hold your applause until the end. Time is valuable, and we don't want to spend it waiting for applause to die down.

Laura Knoy/Moderator: Hello Everyone and welcome - to a Gubernatorial Candidate forum, put on by the New Hampshire Business and Industry Association, in partnership with the New Hampshire Union Leader and Sunday News, New Hampshire Public Television, and New Hampshire Public Radio…with generous support from Lincoln Financial Group. I'm Laura Knoy, host of NHPR's "The Exchange". We're coming to you from the Institute of Politics at St. Anslem college. For the next hour, we'll hear the candidates engage in a conversation about issues of concern to Granite State businesses…including tax policy, the economy, health care and more. And now, let me introduce our candidates. They are Governor John Lynch, a Democrat, currently serving his second term…and State Senator Joseph Kenney, a Republican now in his ___ term in the State Senate. Our panelists are Denis Paiste from the New Hampshire Union Leader, and Richard Ager, from New Hampshire Public Television. The three of us will be asking questions, some of which came from our readers, listeners, and viewers, as well as today's audience. We tossed a coin earlier to see who would receive the first question, and that goes to Senator Joseph Kenney.
Voice Over Close:
Laura Knoy/Moderator: And that's all the time we have - I want thank you, our audience here at St. Anselm College, for coming out today - and a reminder to join us again on October 6th, for another forum with the Candidates for U.S. Senate - John Sunnunu and Jeanne Shaheen. Thanks also to our partners, the Business and Industry Association, the New Hampshire Union Leader and Sunday News, New Hampshire Public Television, and New Hampshire Public Radio
